Bro got me thinking of Ballerina Porter 😍

I imagine that during one of his late night dates with Treasure at their place. They have romantic waltz playing softly in thr background. Porter pulls them off their bed into his arms and gently pull their hands to place one on his shoulder and the other clasping his hand. He places his own hand on their waist. He nods and takes a step and Treasure instinctively looks down at their feet. Porter smiles and wothout saying anything titls their chin up slightly, hes asking them to keep eye contact. Be brave. You cant hurt me. I won't trance you. Please look at me with those beautiful eyes, Treasure.

Treasure looks into his silver eyes, smiles and nods. He takes another step and another. They move smoothly, gracefully in the apartment, lit by the moonlight. They can feel the rhythm between each other, feeling the quiet music filling the air around them as they spin.

I am also humbled to be asked by the Olympics organizing committee to sing such a special French song—a song to honor the French people and their tremendous history of art, music, and theatre. This song was sung by Zizi Jeanmaire, born in Paris a French ballerina, she famously sang “Mon Truc en Plumes” in 1961. The title means “My Thing with Feathers.” And this is not the first time we’ve crossed paths. Zizi starred in Cole Porter’s musical “Anything Goes” which was my first jazz release.

Although I am not a French artist, I have always felt a very special connection with French people and singing French music—I wanted nothing more than to create a performance that would warm the heart of France, celebrate French art and music, and on such a momentous occasion remind everyone of one of the most magical cities on earth—Paris. What do you mean Nancy wouldn't want kids? After coming home to Steve and the kid they adopted, she finds a piece of paper on the fridge with scribbles all over it.

"It's their first article," Steve would say proudly.

And then their kid would wrap their little arms around Nancy's legs.

"I'mma porter, Mommy, like yous. I ported!" They exclaimed.

"They're so proud of their mom," Steve would also say.

Of course, Nancy would hang it up at work. Though by next week, they're a firefighter ballerina. Then, the next week, they're a lesbian like Aunt Robin, but then Aunt Robin has to sit down and explain to them that it isn't a job.

"Can I be a dingus like yous say Daddy is?" They would ask.

"Of course you can," Robin replied immediately.

"Robin! No!"

And then there's the snuggling. . .the moment where the kid would just curl up over Nancy's chest as she slept, her hand over her heart. Nancy would still be able to work on her article even if the kid snores loud enough to wake the next state over. Their dog is curled up at her feet. The distant sound of Steve arguing with Robin in the kitchen helped keep her focus. Nancy is entirely at peace.

Of course, Nancy is followed by both dog and kid the moment she walks through the door. Then she relaxes after dinner with Steve promising to give their kid a bath. Of course, that all goes to hell when the dog jumps into the bath and then jumps out, causing their kid to jump out too. Then they're running into the living room. Nancy smiles at the moment, listening to the chaos, and headed into the living room where the kid and dog are looking out the window.

"Look, mama, squirrel!"

Nancy picks her up and presses her nose to their hair. Steve comes in, drenched in water, and his hands on his hips. He looks annoyed like he tries to be, but he actually loves the chaos of it all. He smiles at the sight of them.

"I guess you need help after all," Nancy said in amusement.

"Yeah, yeah," Steve smirked. "I'm going to be saying that to you when you try to reach the top shelf again without the stool."

Let's face it, Nancy and Steve both thrive in the chaos, but they thrive in the peace too. Transitioning their monster hunting skills had been easier than they thought it would be. Though being a parent was something they both wanted, it still made them nervous and worried. Turns out, though. . . A chaotic lifestyle is something that they got in the bag. It was a good kind of chaos.

I'm making a quiz in Phantom and want to make a question about the minor characters played by the ensemble, like the monkey in Masquerade, and the Confidante in Il Muto. I'd like to ask if you happen to have made a list of them or seen one before (It doesn't need to include all of them). I can't find much information on Google. Thanks in advance.

Well, the thing about ensemble actors is that they're playing multiple characters throughout the show, it's not like a principal role where it's one-and-done. (So for example, the Christine understudy typically plays the Hannibal princess, the Mirror Bride, the Triangle Girl, a lady during the rehearsal scene, and perhaps a lady or page in Don Juan Triumphant.) Playbills and programs and the like will often list one or two of those roles, but not all of them. Many of them also don't have individual lines, they sing as a chorus, but if you want to include them (and you seem to since you include the Monkey as an example), you are essentially asking someone to look through the musical and list every character that shows up in the show that isn't a principal or supporting character. No wonder Google isn't going to help you!

But I can make an attempt, I suppose. Here's a not that complete listing of minor characters in most scenes in Phantom, gathered by looking at the libretto, programs, an archived version of Operafantomet's costume site, and of course, various bootlegs of the show itself, mainly sticking to the replica, as characters will vary across different productions and eliminating repeats (e.g. Buquet shows up in three scenes but I only put him in his first):

Navigating Student Use of Technology and Education in my Classroom

Although I’m grateful to live and have grown up in the age of the internet, with everything I could possibly want to know, learn, or buy right at my fingertips, over the last four years or so, I’ve been reflecting on my internet use/reliance/neurological addiction (to be dramatic, but not really- I have ADHD), and how it impacts me as a person, as a student, and as a teacher.

Although technology and social media are always evolving and therefore affecting users in changing ways, I would argue that TikTok could be consistently blamed as one of the most detrimental social medias/technologies when considering children’s neurological development, attention spans, socialization, and understanding of appropriate norms and behavior, all thanks to the fact that it’s addictive by design. Understanding the reality of most student’s use of technology (social media) is important for teachers; the impacts on students’ brains and wellbeing shape their worldviews and identities, which affects the way the think, speak, and behave in the school environment, both academically and socially.

Studies have repeatedly demonstrated the harmful effects of TikTok on the human brain. The most common effects are drastically reduced memory and attention, increased feelings of boredom, decreased reading skills (minimal text in each short video), reward-seeking behavior, increased need for instant gratification, diminished patience, disrupted sleep patterns, and decreased capacity for deep focus. These factors greatly affect academic ability and desire, especially in adolescents; Dr. Patrick Porter, neuroscience expert, states that “teen brains, which are still in the developmental stage, are more vulnerable to the effects of TikTok […],” increasing their likelihood of experiencing these harmful effects.

As we know, school is an academic institution, but school is also responsible for the social-emotional development of students, as well. Like most social media platforms/technologies, there are both positive and negative social aspects and effects associated with TikTok. While some users may feel more connected to their peers, many users experience isolation and negative mental health outcomes; some organizations such as amnesty International claim that “TikTok’s ‘For You’ feed risks pushing children and young people towards harmful mental health content,” including content related to mental health that is potentially harmful; serves to romanticize, normalize, or encourage depressive thinking, self-harm, and/or suicide; as well as abusive and/or predatory.

Furthermore, communities, norms, and influencers on TikTok contribute to and perpetuate ideas, (sub)cultures, and expectations that TikTok users subconsciously internalize, as these ideas, (sub)cultures, and expectations gain more visibility in the mainstream. This can be well observed in the impacts of influencers and content such as Andrew Tate (manosphere content), Nara Smith and Hannah Neeleman (Ballerina Farm) (“Tradwife” content), “Pro-Ana” (anorexia) content, “Gym Bro” culture, and plastic surgery content, to name a few examples. This increasing visibility within the mainstream and TikTok users’ more frequent interactions with these types of content shape their worldviews and personal identities in a way that is not feasible outside of the platform, not to mention the likelihood of experiencing bullying or hate while interacting with content.

So why does this matter for teachers? Academically, students may be more likely to struggle as they are more susceptible to barriers to learning, such as those discussed under the topic of negative neurological effects. Socially and individually, students are in unprecedented circumstances, experiencing another world and society, entirely online. Though teachers are inherently responsible for preparing students for life beyond the walls of the school, teachers are also currently navigating unprecedented circumstances in relation to their obligations as teachers, and the intersections of responsibility and reality are not clear.  

What is my responsibility? How do I “deprogram” indoctrinated students? Is that my job, too? What are the boundaries of real life and social media in my classroom? Who defines that? Can it be defined? How do I compete with the internet? Who do I go to for help? Though I’m raising far more questions than I’m answering, This sort of concern is at the forefront of my mind when considering technology and education, as it is so far out of my control.

In 1917, Janet Collins, a Black ballet dancer and painter, was born.She moved with her family from New Orleans, Louisiana, to Los Angeles as a young girl, attending Los Angeles City College and the Los Angeles Art Center School. As an accomplished painter, she was able to finance her relocation to New York to pursue a dance career. In 1941, she performed with the new but world-renowned Black dance troupe formed and directed by Katherine Dunham.

At the age of fifteen, Collins successfully auditioned for the Ballet Russe de Monte Carlo at the Philharmonic, but after being told she would have to paint her face white to perform, she declined the offer. She told her aunt what happened and was advised, "You get back to the barre and start your City exercises. Don’t try to be good, be excellent." In 1949, Collins made her New York debut in a solo concert. As a Prima Ballerina in 1951, she became the first Black artist to perform on the stage of the Metropolitan Opera House in New York. Starring in the 1951 production of Cole Porter’s Out of This World, Collins won the Donaldson Award, signifying the best dancer on Broadway.

She remained with the Met until 1954, dancing in Carmen, Aida, La Gioconda, and Samson and Delilah, after which she toured the United States and Canada in solo dance concerts. Having taught at several colleges and dance institutions in New York and California, she retired and resided in Seattle. Janet Collins died in June 2003 in Forth Worth, Texas.

8. Who is the better dancer?

Definetely Cersei. Canon!Cersei was taught how to dance at a very young age, and Modern!Cersei used to do ballet back in the days (she still enjoys watching a good ballet from time to time). She has the grace of a ballerina.

21. Do they have similar taste in movies?

Yes and no? Cersei loves more horror movies and psychological thrillers while Jaime is more action/war movies, tho he went to see Barbie with Myrcella and baby!Joanna. When they fight over what they'll watch, they eventually agree to watch a romcom. Jaime loves them, but Cersei always rolls her eyes through the movie, complaining everything is expected, tho deep down she likes them. Also, Jaime loves Christmas movies. Cersei is not a big fan, because same as romcom, but for him she makes an effort to watch.

24. Who has better fashion sense?

Oh, they both have a great fashion sense, but Cersei beats Jaime on that one. She spends a lot on clothing, jewelry and shoes. Speaking of shoes, she loves them and has a huge collection in her closet. Also rings, Cersei adores rings and Jaime knows if he wants to give her a gift for no particular reason, a ring will always do it. And she wears only well known fashion designer. Net-A-Porter? One of her favorite website.

37. How do they cheer each other up?

FJFJDJDJSJSJSJZ SEX 😂✋🏻 It always works. But also praise, especially for Jaime. When Cersei sees Jaime needs to be cheered up, she always praise him how good of a husband (let's say they are married for the sake of it) and how good of a father he is. It definetely helps him when he feels a bit low. As for Cersei, Jaime knows which stupid jokes gonna make her smile/laugh. Also, when he promises her to have another baby, it makes Cersei's heart swell with love.

52. What do they do for Valentines Day?

Depend if they have the children yet or not. If they don't, Jaime takes Cersei on a small trip in Paris or in Italy. They spend their day visiting the city before having a nice dinner in a fancy restaurant and then, they go back to their place where they exchange their gifts before having sex. If they have the children, Cersei leaves a note on her pillow for Jaime to find out when he wakes up because she is the one who always wakes up first and makes breakfast for everyone. Eventually, Jaime finds her in the kitchen and they wish each other a Happy Valentine's Day before kissing under the eyes of Joffrey, Myrcella and Tommen. Joffrey is like "Yikes" while Myrcella and Tommen find it cute. Then comes the night and Tyrion watches over the children while Jaime and Cersei go on a date. They go to an opera or a ballet before going to their favorite restaurant. They come back home and the kids are already tucked in bed. They still kiss them goodnight. Then, same as when they didn't have their children, they exchange their gifts and have GREAT sex.

It's that time.

It's a tradition of mine to post my end-of-the-year music list. I used to get music questions + recommendations all the time. This goes back to the days of the Hypster Music Player we used to have on our pages (remember those lol) before the DMCA roll out.

As a heads up, I'm a violinist with a BFA in Music and Audio Production. I'm a timbre listener first 🤷🏽‍♀️. No surprise there. Some people listen to music for the lyrics first, melody first, a catchy hook first, etc. I'm a tone color and texture person as it relates to vocality, instrumentation, and the arrangement/combination of frequencies altogether. Saw youre into doll customizing. There a chance of you doing some Jak and Daxter ooak dolls?

Oh, you could say I have some planned to start on the side, after the holiday season is over- after I went and did a bit of organization in my stock and saw just how many Disney Descendants dolls I have on hand and realized that I should probably start using some of them.(Don't get me wrong, I like their bodies and face sculpts, but jesus christ, I have so many Mal and Evie dolls that I can make a freaking coffee table out of them.)

Some things are still a bit undecided, though. Like I don't know which exact type of head I should use for Torn(so if anyone has any suggestions of what I should possibly use for him, beyond the potential Heath Burns or Porter Geiss heads, that would definitely help me whenever I eventually get to working on him). And I'm most likely going to use this ballerina Moanica for Maia, instead of Ghoulia, because I think her face/head would work a little better for her, and I like that the reboot Monster High bodies are a little meatier.

Summary: While watching you dance around to some oldies, a certain supersoldier realizes his feelings.

Bucky’s ears perk up. The Andrew Sisters. He would know that song anywhere. Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy. It brings a rush of memories to him. Going out dancing, listening to the radio, and he’d even seen them at one of the USO shows when he was in the army. It was the music of his youth and it brought a surge of nostalgia. 

He follows the sound of the music and it leads him down the hall of bedrooms to your open door. He leans on the wall outside and peaks in at you. His first thought is that you look adorable. Wearing a loose sundress and socks, you’re dancing around your room tidying up. He watches you move around with the grace of a ballerina. You execute twists and turns, do a few little jumps, and sing along to the song.

The song ends and “‘Johnny B. Goode” begins to play. You squeal and dance around like crazy. As Bucky watches you, he can’t keep the grin off his face. You are singing along and playing air guitar. It's endearing.

You had joined the Avengers a year ago and had immediately bonded with Bucky and Steve. With the sweetest personality he had ever seen on a person and your unending kindness towards everyone, Bucky was smitten. You had an unquenchable thirst for knowledge and constantly asked him and Steve about their lives growing up. You often lead them down a path of reminiscing that makes them feel nostalgic and humble that you are so interested in their past. Not to mention, you are a stellar agent who could bring an enemy to their knees in moments. 

The song changes again. Cole Porter's "Let's Do It" comes on and you sing along as you dance. You execute a turn with effortless elegance. Bucky's heart leaps in his chest as he watches. His eyes are soft on you and his smile widens, he realizes how much in love with you he is. He had always had a little crush on you and considered you one of his best friends, but in this moment, he knew. He loved you. God, he loved you and sometimes he thought you felt the same. 

Now or never, he tells himself. The song selection couldn't be any more perfect. Deftly, he maneuvers into your room, grabs you by the hand, and twirls you around.

You grin at him, "I was wondering how long you were going to lurk outside my door."

Bucky laughs as he pulls you to him for a dance. "I should have known you were putting on a show for me." 

"How long have you been there?" You ask. 

"You were boogie-woogieing when I peeked in." Bucky says.

"You were pretty stealthy then. I didn't clock you until the end of Johnny B. Goode."

"I like the music."

"My 30s-50s mix."

"This is one of my favorites." He says. 

"You looking to fall in love?" You tease him. 

"Already fell, Doll." Bucky smiles nervously.

Your stomach drops, "Oh, I didn't realize you were seeing someone."

"I'm not, but I still managed to fall for her. I'm just hoping she feels the same way."

"Any woman would be lucky to have you, Buck." You say trying to hide your disappointment. You'd been in love with him for a while now.

"Are you sure about that?"

"Yeah. Who is she? You haven't mentioned anyone." You ask.

"You." He whispers.

You can't help the smile that slowly spreads across your face. "Is that right?"

"Yeah. How do you, uh, how do you feel about me?" Bucky asks.

"Why don't you kiss me and find out?" 

You pull Bucky a little closer and that's all the encouragement he needs. He captures your mouth and his lips are even softer than you imagined. He pulls back too soon for your liking but his smile and shining eyes makes your heart flip-flop. 

"You know, right?" Bucky asks.

"Know what?" You ask.

"That I'm completely in love with you." He says a bit self-consciously.

"I love you, too, Bucky. I have for quite some time now." You smile at him. 

"Why'd you never say anything before?" He teases.

"Because, for all your catching up to the modern era, you still have some old-fashioned tendencies. I decided to wait you out." You giggle and then pull him closer to whisper in his ear, "You kept me waiting, maybe I should do the same to you."

Bucky groans, "Doll, I'll wait as long as you want, but there are other ways I could make it up to you."

"Show me." You whisper.

Bucky kisses you as he lifts you up and carries you to bed.
